Stephen Curry's Life on Display

Watching college basketball this season just isn't the same without Stephen Curry. I'm not actually a Davidson College fan--I barely knew anything about it before I moved to Charlotte--but for three years it was exciting to see what Curry was going to do on the court and which team Davidson was going to upset. Last April, of course, Curry announced that he would be skipping his senior season to enter the NBA Draft. In June, when he was selected by the Golden State Warriors as the No. 7 pick, one of the first things that came to my mind was that we, in Charlotte, weren't going to see him play much this season because Golden State games just aren't televised much for East Coast audiences.

I try to catch up with how he's doing by checking for him on ESPN or by visiting the stats on NBA.com, but it's also been great to follow him on GQ.com in his "My Rookie Season" blog. GQ Magazine chose Curry to chronicle his first NBA season online, and in it you get to experience what it's like for him, as a 21 year-old, to be thousands of miles away from his hometown, to be living in Oakland, California, to travel from city to city to play several NBA games per week (hanging at LeBron James's house when he played at Cleveland), and how he deals with his stardom.


Curry often makes comparisons to Charlotte, and sometimes reminisces about his Davidson days, understandably so since those things were going on in his life this time last year. He usually blogs on the GQ site at least twice a week, but today's post is his first in nearly four weeks. And in this post, it's evident that playing on a not-so-good team against so many great Western Conference opponents is starting to take its toll on him.
