I had an appointment in Ballantyne this afternoon and since I missed lunch I was starving by 5 p.m. I turned into Ballantyne Commons where I knew there would be some restaurants to choose from, when I remembered "Oh yeah, there's a Big Daddy's Burger Bar here now." I'd eaten at the Dilworth location before, but not this one since it opened last year. It was just my lucky day, because today I ... wait for it ... ate ... wait for it ... the best burger ever!
I decided to order Nick's Patty Melt, which for $8.50 is described as a "basic burger on rye toast with Swiss cheese, grilled onions, mayo, and Dijon mustard." For my side, I chose sweet potato fries. This was not a basic burger--it blew me away. The bread was flavorful, the patty was juicy, and the combination of onions and sauce--when I usually don't eat onions--had me licking my fingers.
I've eaten my share of burgers over the years, and I've never had one this good. At times on this blog, when I've had a good dining experience I've taken a picture with my camera phone to include in the post. But by the time I thought to take a picture, there was nothing left but one bite, which I finished off after the picture.
