I received the following today in a press release:
Mayor Anthony Foxx and Samara Foxx will help launch a new initiative today, “Charlotte, Get Your Move On!” The initiative, which will tackle the issue of childhood obesity, kicks off at this evening’s movie premiere of The Fat Boy Chronicles at UNC Charlotte’s Student Union.
Based on the book by Diane Lang and Michael Buchanan, the movie follows 14 year-old Jimmy as he enters his freshman year of high school and chronicles his struggle with bullying and obesity.
The local community effort is modeled after the nationwide campaign, “Let’s Move” (www.letsmove.gov).

As a co-author of the book, I can easily say all of us involved in the book and movie had a wonderful time in Charlotte. Hats off to all the great people who helped make the event so memorable.
